Description:

Our internship program presents an exciting opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the world of archival work. Participants will gain invaluable hands-on experience, working with various facets of preserving historical records and stories. This opportunity is a gateway to acquiring knowledge in archival practices, including digitization, collection maintenance and care, and the art of conducting oral histories. In addition, students may be given the chance to contribute to specialized projects, guided by a dedicated mentor.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the processing of archival collections, which encompasses tasks such as digitization, content selection, and maintaining the integrity of historical records.
  • Participate in conducting oral history interviews with individuals from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. This role may also involve transcribing and preserving these interviews for posterity.
  • Be prepared to contribute to various other tasks and projects as directed by your mentor, all of which will broaden your understanding of archival work.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to take on various tasks and projects, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to learn quickly.
  • A genuine interest in preserving and promoting historical records, artifacts, and stories.
